PXG | Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker is known for his success in country music as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Hootie & the Blowfish. Rucker embarked on a solo career in country music in 2008, which led to him earning multiple awards, including a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance. Rucker's golf career began to gain attention in the mid-2000s as he participated in various celebrity tournaments. His passion for golf made him a regular face at pro-am events and charity golf outings. Over the years, Rucker's dedication to golf never wavered despite his successful music career. He often mentioned in interviews how golf provided him with a therapeutic escape from his hectic schedule. While he never pursued competitive golf professionally, his love for the game remains a significant aspect of his life outside of music.

Rucker has a natural cool, without announcement he strolled into the room where we waited for him. His vibe felt cool and humble as he greeted all crew members individually with smiles and the dad jokes about breaking my camera. It’s always the best feeling when the talent arrives with a better vibe than you. I don’t get nervous meeting celebrities, but the flow of photoshoots is sometimes jarring. It can become mentally overwhelming when you need to switch your mindset between directing the crew to directing the talent. It’s almost like both have their tone, and you create a bipolar personality. But enough about my psyche, I hope you enjoy these images, and I hope I get the chance to work with this gem of a human again.
